Thread: Im Back, and get rewards!

After three and a half months off with a stuff shoulder and not doing anything it was driving me crazy.Today thou, i decided to test it out and go look for a deer.
I asked four people if they like to go to my hot spot, and they all passed lol. Think the weather put half of them of but i knew it be a good day.
Looking at weather maps each weekend hunting soon gets you to know what its going to do and i had no doubt the storm will blow over during the night.
Arrived early, and the plan was to hunt some grass flats, always deer there at this time of year. Unforturely thou the rivers were in flood and as it was i had to cross a waist high torrent just to go.

So, a change of plans and i decided to hunt some open bush instead where i havnt really been into before. Ten minutes in i spook a yearling , bugger but good start.
Didnt see much sign after that for awhile so i climbed high, shoulder felt good and went looking for a stag on the top.
Sure enough, as i reached the top, a nice little flat area screamed stag and as i looked around i was at first abit disappointed not to see a deer or much sign.

Then suddenly, in a dip ahead was a monster of a stag lying down and as he got up and crashed away i only managed to catch a foot in the crosshairs and he was gone.
Bugger, but was happy to see one, just knew it looked good for a stag to be tucked away.
Carried on down the other side and spooked two yearlings way ahead of me. As they came around the face on a slow run i had a shot at the back one but aftter a search it was a miss.










Not long after that saw three goats in the bush. after that shot decided goat curry will be it and 3 shots later , 3 dead goats.
Took some meat for dinner tomorrow night and was happy to start the walk out. Wasnt bad day i thought for first hunt but it didnt end there.

Only 15 mins later just heading down the ridge i see a spiker!! something had spooked it down below and it was heading across and slightly toward me. Fired a shot but was abit rushed and a miss.

Silly thing stopped behind a tree, could see a little of its neck so had another go.....think the round hit the branch in front of it fu k!
Then it takes off towards me and stops and i make no mistake the third time a BOOM, down it goes












Pretty good day out after not being able to> shoulder survived, i survived and ended up with some good action in DOC land and bought home venison and goat.













Fired a couple more shots than normal but shooting on the fly in the bush shit happensl lol
