Have been for a couple of walks in the ruahines . Recently have walked down the Roki track and hidden out in the river bed edges waiting for the deer to come out.
Havent seen anything yet but still enjoying the exercise and the anticipation of "one day seeing one".
Will venture into another spot next time as not having much luck along the roki track and that river bed.
You’re in the right area. Climb higher and look for slips to glass. We’ve had a good level of success in the southern Ruahines with that method. I also use google maps to identify the slips first.
