Quick report for Scouser
Left Hamilton at 530 am .
I heard roaring all morning , and I gave a moan about 8am and got a reaply from something bellow me about 100 mtrs away. after moaning and grunting at each other for 15 minutes the damn thing had moved down wind and buggered off .
Half an hour later and 200 mtrs further on I sat down and rolled a smoke .
I heard a roar from a long way off in the gully below me so let rip with the best cupped hand roar (30 years of smoking helps it sound just right ) I could muster followed by a bit of a smokers cough (that's the secret too tricking deer ). A minutue later I hear a few sticks break down in the gully . I could see a good 60 too 80 mtrs in front off me so sat still and waited .
There was defenatly something coming , he was making quite a racket walking with abit of determination. When I spotted movement 60 mtrs out he was heading off too my left so I gave a small grunt . He stopped on the spot and roared ( that was cool too see ) but no clear shot at this stage.
I gave another quick grunt and he spun on the spot and came strait towards me and I smashed him under the neck and out through the shoulder with the 6.5x55 about 30 mtrs away.
Its the first time Ive ever roared a deer in like that and not a bad head for the kaimais either , its abit smaller overall than the 9 ptr I shot up there afew years back but the timber is a lot thicker on this one .
Back home in Hams before 2pm ,
