    Last night - A short wallaby video

    I decided that yesterday was too good of a day to waste, so made arrangements to go and chase some roos. I had intended to head up the hill a bit earlier in the afternoon, but a couple of hang-ups meant the quad wasn't free for my use until nearer to 5. I adjusted my plan accordingly and after parking the quad, walked the last 15 minutes in to the end of a track which conveniently overlooks a nice basin.

    I had finally pulled my camera out of the back of the wardrobe and dropped some fresh batteries in it, so I took that along too. Sadly even fresh batteries only grant me about 15 minutes of use with the camera and as you'll see, optical quality has also faded over time.

    I shot 9 wallabies from the same position until I ran out of light, managing to get a few of them on camera. They ranged from 215-360 yards. After dark I pulled the maxtoch out and went for a walk in another block, cleaning up a further 9 before finishing up the ammo I'd brought with me.

    Please excuse the low quality, a new camera is on the wishlist but not in the budget.

    Cheers guys, glad you enjoyed it

    I was using a .223. Had been thinking about taking the 7mm08 as well to have a play at the longer ranges, but decided against it when I ended up starting later than planned.

    Mudgripz - the maxtoch does the job extremely well as always. Grabbed an M24 as soon as they were released and use that now, but had been using the original one regularly for a few years now.

    That's good distance shooting for the 223. Some of the wallabies are quite a size - like 25kgs for a big one - maybe more?

    If you want extra distance with the M24, gadget can dedome it for you - huge distance then.

    Looks like good fun.
    It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.

    @StrikerNZ,
    awesome video and shooting, i am impressed with the 223 dropping the "roos" at that distance. My NZDA has a "roos" shooting in North Otago in the end of the month, i can't wait for it.

    Thank you for share.

    @PERRISCICABA Sounds great, I'm sure you'll enjoy that. Wallabies, in my opinion, are about the most entertaining game animal to hunt.

    Just 55gr SP Fiocchi factory ammo in that vid. I'll also often use handloads with Nosler 40gr BT @~3800, which is a pretty magical projectile on wallabies.

    Will my 65gr game king going at 2800 do any good on them or shall I take one of my 7mm(08 or mag)?
