Great day out, really don't know how the fallow buck didn't die from a 15m shot. Maybe their necks are skinnier than I thought. Did hit a wallaby at 250m with the 223 so pretty happy with that.
Feeling like I've done a decent walk so the fitness should be improved.

Don't fall off this rock. It's a long way down to the creek.

Is this where me and Nathan said I'd be too steep for ya Micky duck.
No deers.lots of dead wobblies....
Shot animal long way away today was a huge effort to recover meat.three hours back to car. Fair rooted but my soul is at peace. Just getting out and exercising is doing me world of good.
Clearing to left of sticky up grissillinia in rumpus photo, is 225yards away but close to kilometre and half to get up,down over up ,around and down to it... Mad I tell you.stark raving mad.
Tell you something.its like a morgue down there dead wallabies all over the show and there are still more.added six more today, funny as first time I've fired 223 without suppressor for ages.last two were shot with reduced load trailboss n 40 grn magnum projectile.
Enjoy your venison mate, well earned and deserved
Attachment 255936 now like many DOC controlled blocks in south canterbury....the local wildlife KNOWS where the boundary line is as skirts along JUST outside it every day..sometimes I swear they poke tongue out at us mere humans...but they only need to make one little geographical error ,and sometimes, just sometimes we are in right place at right time to take advantage of it
you may notice photo with mob is rather blue/grainy....thats over kilometer away with camera zoomed well out...I just enjoy watching deer do their thing. if they didnt taste so darn good I would happily just take photos.
