Making the most of a break in the weather

I spotted a little break in the shitty weather. Friday arvo and Saturday mornings forecast looked reasonable so hatched a plan for a quick fly camp, dragged my retired neighbor with me (ex hunter now just a tramper).

Just when I was thinking we weren't going to see anything on Friday night Des spotted one at 312 yards.

Yep, 150 NBT at 2970. Thru both shoulders. Completely smashed the off side. You could see daylight from one side to the other.

Not giving each other whispered instructions (that "just squeeze the trigger gently", "stay calm" and "aim at the centre of the shoulder" chatter drives me crazy). Relaxed after the shot. Calmly confirmed the hit. No rush or panic. Then ejecting the spent case.

Is that because you know what you are doing? The instructions are usually given only to those who need it...

Correct, the kind of talk you give to a learner on their first animal, even though you have spent the time with them at the range and talking shot placement, when the time comes it all goes out the window. Maybe i will try that with Craig at some stage lol

I think that people just do it naturally. Greg Duley does it to his sons and then they dance around high-fiveing, CraigC does it me. Hamish does it to everyone. :thumbsup:

Maybe rifles aren't the only thing that need a silencer on them :)

Anyway, its great seeing Nosler BTs being used. An under rated and miss-understood projectile that always delivers.
