foxhound......its the type rather than the weight...your .223 will be dumping all the energy its got and the projectile will be .....coming apart... whereas you .243 projectiles are possibly holding together and exiting with a good part of the energy/shock factor going with them....... without looking it up Im pretty confident if you picked a btsp from speer in those weight ranges you would end up with a very bloody mushy mess and no exit...so yip you have worked out the why....same as me using 110 hp hornadies in the poohseventy on wallabies...awesome aye @RUMPY but dont try and shoulder shoot a red with them...wont penertrate and blows up on surface. vs the 110grn barnes tsx I poked into red stag at 192 yards yesterday,took out boiler room no trouble and stag went 10 yards before getting the wobbles and falling over stone cold brown bread.
