    Model 7, 7mm08 vs Spiker

When I first saw this Model 7 in the shop, with a carbon fibre stock, I thought I'd better grab it before someone else does! I like Model 7s but I really like carbon stocks and I thought this one would make a really nice and light 'bush pig'. I returned it to the shop a few weeks later, after I'd gathered a few other parts and had them chop the barrel down to 18 inches and fit a DPT suppressor. I wanted to shoot factory ammunition from this rifle, as all of my other rifles had CDS's on them or are in calibers that you couldn't get factory ammunition for. I settled on the 150g ELDX that Hornady runs in their Super Performance line, it shot well and the velocities were OK.
The video below is from earlier in the week, when I was predominantly on a scouting mission, but when a deer lays down 385 yards from you, what do you do?

This probably will be the last deer of the year for me.

Well done - good eating there by the looks of it. Just waiting to receive my first model 7 in 308 - and cant wait to get out with it. They seem to be a well liked rifle.

What do you do if one lies down 285yds in front of you?

Tell it to stand up, rush and mess up the shot, of course.

@craigc , how many rounds does yours hold in the magazine out of interest?

Assume it is a Stug/High Tech stock?

Yes it is a Southfort Labs stock ,haven't seen one for years, were made in Cambridge ,they were popular on Varmint guns around 2014 on, they have the large PG swell as they were really aiming at supplying the Military market ,they were pretty light from memory & needed a good bedding job.

The guy who owned it got caught out a few years ago after falling out with his neighbor's over delivery trucks blocking their drives off ,turned out he had been running the business, with around a dozen employees out of the back of a shed behind a house for years & had never applied for permits or had any proper drains ,venting etc, etc & the powers to be were sending cameras down drains etc to see what they had been dumping for years.

From memory again but l think when they went to fine & remove him , the company was hidden behind a very complex Offshore financing scheme & was basically a $1 Smoke & Mirrors wonder.

Was a very similar story to those blokes who supplied the UK Military with their Sniper rifles & the company was just a group of mates operating out of a old Panel Beaters shed .

There might be more than one side to the story of the carbon stock company you are talking about.
As to the lot from the uk, is that not how accuracy international was started more or less?

@craigc Jeez time flies l remember watching your video on the 284W like it was just a couple of months ago at most & just looked through your Video library to have a watch again & it was 10 months ago

Nice little set up you have there now ,l was recently just left a Mod 7 7/08 by a mate from the US & have been looking at what is now on offer in CF stocks for them ,it is amazing what upgrades are available now since l brought my Mowhawk for my 21st birthday back in the early 80's .

Hope you have Good Hunting with the new rig
