MORNING SPRINTER part 2,dont do this.

Well after dealing with the bucks legs and back steaks.One hind quarter was shot just above the knee joint which buggered a 1/3 of the bottom hind quarter meat.Buck running directing away from me.butt shot.
Decided to leave everything there and walk back to the truck about 30 minuts away,pretty sure nobody around for about 25ks,took the bolt with me.About a hr later got back to buck in truck.Loaded everything on the truck,brushed off the odd wasp on meat,all good.Got in the truck all excited about getting a buck,started patrol up and started to drive away.Bugger whats that scretching of metal and rattling of rocks,no big rocks there,got out of the truck.Theres my pride and joy flatten,scrope ripped off,suppresser head first into the shingle.ffs grrr was a understatement.Forgot all about the rifle on the ground in front off the truck,buck fever at its best.Broke my heart.
Plenty of tikas for sale in NZ,barrel doesnt look round looking down it,suppresser doest look healthy,scope rail lifted slightly.Bipod stuffed.
No 1.5x6x42 scopes for sale in NZ.Now to go home and tell my wife.Thats the hard bit,hope insurance company are good she said.I hoped for a couple more hunts befor winter,may be with the serbian 222.Il give a insurance report sometime.

I don't think the barrel is flattened that would take lot more weight than a soft squishy tyre and it's probably not bent either or the fore end would be smashed.
Depending on the insurance outcome It may be as simple as a quick check over by a smith a new rail, supressor, and scope and maybe a hi viz paint job

Not so sure about that. I dropped one of mine off my work bench. Thought just needed recrown but nope barrel was bent at end. Had to knock 100mm off barrel to fix it

A barrel with a slight bend in it can be straightened, dont ask me how I know. Gunworks fixed it for me. There are 2 ways you can straighten it, one is the slow way in a press, takes a few weeks. And the other is over a good lump of wood like on the recent video doing the rounds. If stock is ok, them Im pretty sure looking at that that you still have a serviceable rifle. Scope rings are easy, suppressors and bipods are available no problem. And a 1.5-6 scope.......well I know where theres 3 at present, but I aint gonna part with them sorry.
If you wanna flick the bent bipod on, Im keen to take it, looks like its got some salvageable bits to fix one of mine.

I had a Sako with a bent barrel.
Shot one load very well but I wanted to dual load it like my other one and it just would not shoot the other load .
I thought I would recrown it and if that didn't help cut a couple of inches off, once clocked in at each end it was like a bananna.
Taking it out and looking down the bore it was a slight oval light picture not perfectly round, noticeable but not bad enough that I noticed before putting it in the lathe.

It did shoot one load very well tho but I cut it into 3 with a grinder and got a new barrel chambered and fitted.

Looking down barrel im sure its got a slight oval shape,but need good eyes expert to look and test.Dont what the bloody thing back firing on me.

That sucks big time, never leave it behind, good luck with the fix up.

Keep the bolt though, people are always loosing/looking for one.

After cocking rifle,pull trigger and dry fire as normal,bolt very hard to lift back up and open.Gunsmith reckn rear end of bolt got a micro bend in it.Bolt use to be very slick in opening and closing.I use to be able to put 5 rds thru tika very quick following roos on the run.Now struggle to get one thru lifting the bolt after firing.Breach,bolt area had a lot of pressure on it,micro twist and buckle(like 3 ton of nissen patrol crawlling along in low gear),Didnt even feel any resistance in the truck,muzzel end got a bend in it.Suppresser rooted.
Bugger it,rifle use to be a deadly shooter.On a good day1/4moa at 400yds wasnt a problem.Now i gota start all over again with another rifle.
Hopefully i can let you guys know the name of a good insurance company soon.;)
