    New Hip in Harkness Hut

So back in 2022 I was fortunate enough to win the sika show - bit of a dream come true in itself. Part of my prize was a voucher with helisika. Step forward to 2023 and I had one year to use the voucher. My Dad hasn’t been able to get round the hills for a few years due to a very buggered hip. Luckily surgery was on the calendar for 2023 and come November he had recovered enough to finally hit the hills again. What better way to celebrate having mobility again then to go hunting. The hunting itself was actually pretty tough but it was an awesome week with Dad exploring new areas none the less.

Here’s the video to the story.
    Cheers

    Good watch, enjoyed it.

How many other deer have you buggered up trying to get on film! 😅

@Pop Shot one too many hahah
@Gkp he sure did. I was a little hesitant on the idea but had nothing to worry about. The million slippery creek crossings were the hard part for him. His knees that are buggered too don’t help lol.
@ZQLewis his surgery was in June. It’s amazing how quickly they get up and moving again after having it done but it obviously took until November for him to make sure it was recovered properly and he felt he would be up to it.

Great trip. Had to laugh about the wet boots. I spent a good few days in there myself one winter. Managed to drop 2 deer with one shot with grandads old 303 Parker hale.

I had already watched it. Came up on my YouTube. Really enjoyed it. The father son topics a very important one when it comes to why we hunt. It’s not all about shooting something but the relationships, bonds and stories to relate is a powerful drawcard for me. Keep making those memories with your dad. I lost my dad when I was 16 and still to this day cherish the memories of the hunts we had together. I’m now creating those with my son.
I thought you guys preserved and were rewarded. Well done.

That was a excellent watch. Great times with family - doing what you love. Awesome

Its a good reminder thar some parts of the Kawekas are over populated and others - ironically often fly in huts get regular pressure.

    Nice video @ Stagstalker

Yep .... and its been that way forever. I recall trips into Tussock hut in the mid-1980's where there was more than enough sign in the open tussock areas to keep you interested, but the deer seemed almost entirely nocturnal.
