This yearling should have come home in my pack, but after a week of early starts the lack of sleep was catching up on me and i decided to not to take the shot and come back in the morning after some much needed sleep. Of course the yearlying and the hind that was there too were nowhere to be seen next morning. Never mind was good to spend a night in the bush.Name: 20241005_104108.jpg

Shoot first, ask questions later! :-)
Although I not a huge fan of it, did you consider knocking it over and picking it up in the morning?

Yeah mate i certainly did and had it lined up in my scope too, but not a fan of recovering next morning either. Spring is almost here and there will be plenty more opportunities in the near future

There'll be more there in the future. Every time you come home from a hunt with no meat gives you a reason to get out for another.

Perfect eater for another day. I can relate to lack of sleep and hunting.

Use to get only a few hours sleep before a hunt and drive 3 hours to hunting spot, walk another 2 hours to hunting area, and then stuff up stalking as not focused enough and spook deer in 7 hours of hunting.

Then another 5 hours walking/driving home makes for a big day.
