We met on the track from Lakes carpark to Kiwi Saddle in September, happy new year to you. This link ( MapsPast | Current and historical topographic maps (topomaps) of New Zealand ) will take you to a great mapping site with all the old NZ topo maps on it. They will give you an idea of the general location of the old huts that were there. I stayed in the Kaweka Hut about a month before it burn't down and are hoping to get back there for a nosey soon. Many thanks for that. I had a quick browse and it will be really handy. I have a lot of old maps but it is much easier to pull them up on the screen rather than rummaging through a map drawer. Hot .284 barrels to you as well for the new year.
    Regards GPM

First swung by there in 1981 (I think) and did so sporadically for some years after that. What I recall was how it would go from appearing buggered to almost restored and so on over ~ 10 years
