In this case: Unbridled hypocrisy.

With all eyes on the rock wren, DOC is hoping no one will notice that they have just killed 15% of the kea population in the same drop.

Its not just the birds that have to watch out for 1080. There is safety in Knowledge. I never knew to check the spouting and the water tanks of the bush huts.
I bloody well check them now.

Doesn't 1080 kill 15% or more of everything, including the possums, birds and any living thing.
There must be a better way that doesn't cost a shitload.

Short term, neither of us seemed to be noticeably affected.
Long term??? I will not speak for Chris.
Long term??? I have and do suffer from a serious blood disorder...Myeloproliferative Blood Disorders.
Nothing like it in the family. What do you blame. Sublethal doses of 1080 over your years of work in 1080ed forests???.
One thing you do learn is never to trust the propaganda churned out by our Government Agencies.
Ministry Of Health Publication. Public Health Perspectives.
From a Public Health Perspective, most public concerns about possum control operations relate to possible contamination of drinking water supplies with 1080 resulting from aerially sown baits.
To date there are no known epidemiological studies that have been carried out in relation to 1080 and potential adverse health effects on humans.
