Pureora hunt and one blown foo foo valve

@mucko, @hunter270 and I met up with @sakokid at the chosen campsite for our weekend of hunting so a cup of tea/coffee and a quick chat then we hit the fartsack for a few hours of sleep. @hunter270, @sakokid and I were up well before the sparrows farted and they had only just farted when @mucko got up. Sakokid had already departed to begin his mission so a quick cup of coffee and stuffed a couple of buttered bread rolls down our gobs (mucko had his noodles) the three of us were off to begin what would be once again be the drastic demise of my foofoo valve.

Just as we entered the bush from the track first thing heard was the distinct barking of a hind but could not get a glimpse of it, so it was a slow and steady pace for our first descent into the creek bed. After hitting the creek we crossed over and began one of many uphill climbs on our way up @mucko heard a deer go trotting off at a steady pace before he could even get a chance to get sight of it. So a bit of sidling and a little while later we had a couple of hinds start barking their arses off at us so the mission was on to try and get these buggers in view to try and get one in our freezers and I was selected to lead the charge on this one only for them to go buggering off before we could get them into view which was a bit of a bugger after that and many creek crossings and uphill climbs we did not come across any other animals and somewhere in the pureoras on a sidling lays one missing foo foo valve with my name on it

Good stuff hunter, obviously in the right place if you are hearing animals.
The hinds barking probably had a fawn planted close by and were trying to draw your attention away from the fawn.
Go back in a month,if the weather is similar the animals are likely to be in the same sort of areas, stags will be just about to strip and Fawns stand a good chance of survival with out mum

We are going to be going back in very soon for another look @mucko is already thinking about the next mission in there @hunter270 really enjoyed the trip even though the pair of us were dragging our arses (hunter270 was no where as bad as me) by time we got back to camp as she was a pretty brutal walk for the pair of us but that is where the deer are so that is where we have to go and the beer in the chilly bin when arriving back at camp was a very welcome sight.

@northdude that was the easy stuff the hunter twins got a good workout and we found a new spot, heaps of sign in the right areas altitude was key once we dropped below 680m the fresh sign stopped. plenty of hunting pressure via quads as well so was really good to see so much fresh sign and plenty of yearling sized prints. i was worried about my mate he was well and truly stuffed before we even made the track which was a solid 2 hour hike back to camp. @hunter308 has come along way with his hunting skill in the short time we have hunted together looking forward to seeing him drop his first deer it will be well earnt by then.

Why is @mucko smelling his fingers with such a startled look on his face?

So that is where the last one went I thought I left it at the big rock thanks for finding it @Spook, you can keep that one I am now on my third replacement so have no use for it. Maybe you could use it as a cushion for your toilet seat on those cold mornings

Good couple of days away in the bush. Piropiro is a good place. Plenty of room for a camp and heaps of scope for a hunt what ever your fitness level is. Pity my mates didn't nail one of those reds. As for me, had a good walk and was abit slow off the mark when a red bailed over a bank, crash crash and it was gone burger. Good to catch up with hunters two seventy, three o eight, and mucko again.

Absolutely @sakokid definitely can not wait to get out there again lets see if I can arrive back at camp in a better state next time. next time I will be making damn sure my water bottle has electrolyte in it and not just straight water one mistake I will never ever make again.

Was also good to see @hunter270 using the gear that was kindly donated to him he was quite happy sleeping in his camo bivy tent
