Putting in the hard yards pays off.

Skipped work on Friday for a planed trip to the Ruahine tops with @Nesika, She was a long hot sweaty slog from the car park for an hour up the river then 3 hours of climbing to the tops.

Just before we hit the bush edge around late arvo we stop at the first decent look out & I spy two beasties on a slip face, one at 373 & the other 376yards. Muzza pulls out the Fatmax aka "Charlie Remington" and bowls the first & then I finish off his mate with my 30-06 Imp max aka "Tim Weatherby" CHUR CHUR

Go and retrieve the kill going down the slip which was a little hairy then with a slog back up, then we decide to camp at our shooting spot for the night, go for a wander to the tops the next morning & then out with heavy friggen packs, a great trip & good work out for the legs

Farken hell Philipo, knowing your fitness levels, that walk would probably have killed 3/4 of the guys on here

Nice to see the 30-06 being used in NZ.

Yeah it was a great little trip with lovely scenery, great weather, a couple of deer and heaps of laughs - cheers @Philipo!

Handy hint - Philipo keeps his camera on his belt and I noted was snapping pictures all the time, hence the great photo essay...I tend to keep my camera in my bag so only take the odd picture. I think I will adopt that practice from now on as pictures really do tell a thousand words!
