reds moving out onto the sweeds

i have a property that i hunt that backs onto native forest, the owner has planted out a crop of sweeds for winter feeding the sheep.
as soon as he mentioned he was sowing out the crop i knew it would be a magnet for the deer and so i have been watching over it for signs of animals.
even up until saturday ther had been no sign of the deer so when i went for a look on sunday morning i thaught nothing of the possability of deer being out there.
i got in just on first light and parked up. it was dead still, not a breath of wind a little unusual so i planned my walk around the property.
as i headed off i noticed the breeze forming and it was going to send my sent down my path for most of the trip.
i decided to double back and go in the other direction.
as i walked back past the car i thaught i should just check that sweed paddock, so i wonder up the hill and low and behold, a deer! no 4 deer!
i dropped down into the gully and moved into a closer shooting position, by the time i was 150mtrs from the deer i first saw, there were about 20 to 25 in multiple mobs out feeding.
i noticed a spiky with only one tine, what better than a young spiky? so i settled the crosshairs on the head just for him to duck down to feed, bugger.
just then something spooked and 4 deer ran right in front of me, a 10 point stag with 3 young hinds following. i swung the rifle around and passed on the stag.
i settled on a smaller hind and lead the shot boom, down she dropped.

now for the hard work, i had to gut and carry all of 50 mtrs to the track so i could drive the car up and pick up the deer.
    some come easy.
