    The roar is here...

Here's something positive to share to help take you mind off our current gun ownership battle...

A few photos from recent meanders in the mountains. Haven't managed to hunt as much as I would have liked this year, just too much happening...work is insane at the moment. Plus my two boys are now 3 and one and half, and I really miss them while I'm away, so spending less and less time doing the two/three day missions I used to do a lot of.

Missed out on getting a proper pre-roar trip in, but did sneak out for a couple of days. Last last week we knocked off on Thursday night and shouldered the packs. Well F me, kilometers with a heavy pack never used to worry me, but I ruined myself over the weekend...a lack of that type of physical exercise and dare I say it...age...is haunting me this week. Anyway, smashed out about 30-40 odd kms, saw plenty of animals, but nothing worth investigating closer. Nice to see on public land that gets plenty of hunting pressure.

We experienced some of the heartiest roaring I've heard for a long time...funny to hear reports of other hunters saying its still too early, too warm, full moon, etc. Stags always roar earlier than most think, and this year's no exception.

Anyway, I've been guilty of spending too much time with the video camera going and not getting photos like I used to. Need to work on swapping that ratio back around this roar I think. Got a few snaps that are worth sharing. Hope you like. Have a heap of footage to sort and no doubt plenty more photos to come over the next few weeks, will share as I get the time.

Top draw effort that, and a very good reminder of the effort required on public land down south.

Make that effort, and you WILL be rewarded.

    Thanks @JoshC.

Cheers, probably won't mate. Not planning on going west of the divide this roar, and lake district will hopefully be drying out by the time we head in. Locally, the weathers not bad - just getting some desperately needed rain now.

Was cool to see. Videoed them crossing, it'll be in my next video when I get around to editing it. It was deeper than they thought...

Time is certainly flying and I don't want my boys to grow up...yet!!

    Cheers

You are the real deal JoshC. Wonderful photos.

This Thursday and Friday is blanked out of my diary for a roar hunt. And then 9,10,11 April.

Cool pics just as good as shooting them, haven't heard a stag yet up this way but found some rut pads being opened up so this weekend could be all go.
