That is amazing, he'd be one of the toughest guys mentally and physically I've had the pleasure of watching in a very long time. Makes one proud to be a kiwi hunter. Some of that country puts the Sth Is into perspective in terms of mental challenge.
His Fiordland traverse vid is well worth watching as well.
The guy is next level tough.

In a pair of Ashleys even that was a bloody good watch

That was a great watch. Tough resilient bloke there.
Some bloody hard yakka territory there. Good on him for following his dream. A very well strung together video, considering he carted everything he would need for a whole 19 days.
Some of the Tararuas can throw ugly terrain like that at you, just not as vast and unending as the Ureweras.
Not a trip to be undertaken in Autumn or winter.
Watched this one a while back, great watch, if you get the time watch his Fiordland traverse. Amazing 40 days in there in some stunning country. Oh to be that fit an confident in your abilities.
Thanks for the alert @Danny. Brought back aot of memories, mostly good
Have been bluffed in that middle countfy more than once. He was very lucky with the weather. The Waiau trout are always nice too.

Yes. He mentioned he was going to learn about cooking possum but didnt seem to get one. A dog is handy for that but would have been a problem in those bluffs and log jam streams. I had to rescue my dog from drowning swept under a log jam one time below central tauranga hut.

Thanks for posting this. Had only just finished reading Wild Pork and Watercress (again again). Man I wouldnt like my own odds throwing the dice too many times on some of that crumbly stuff sidling along. Looked a bit terrifying.
