I used to enjoy a few days at a time alone in the central upper whirinaki area but 19 days alone on a traverse like that is a pretty severe test. Not like he could come back to a base camp each night so some determination and grit would be required. He was pretty knackered the last few days I think and glad to be out.

I watched this one and his Fiordland one a while back. Really good to watch. I especially liked his low key approach and that there is minimal focus on the gear - it's all about the country and the journey ...
