I thought they would have been better educated around your place

But I guess they only get gun shy if you miss

It never stood a chance - here's the (best of the day but consecutive) 5 shot groups it's capable of:
It's a bugger to have 61 year old eyes and finally get a rifle like this, it is very difficult to maintain a sight picture, I'm going to try and get a better front sight, the current "post" isn't nearly as precise as a double aperture type.
@Tentman so you went back and got a M52 to try
Was this the tweaked one ?

There were three to choose from, all "pre A's". The one on TM was a mint "collector" grade 1927 rifle with the Winchester ladder type aperture sight. There was a heavily modified 1930s one - redone as a sporter. It shot extremely well too.
The one I chose from 1934 had a mint bore but had been very slightly shortened, losing its integral front sight ramp - oh dear. The stock is the better shaped Loudenstack version, with quite a few extra holes for various sling iterations!
Well you didn't loose anything with that little bit of barrel gone
Except maybe made it cheaper
Those M52 barrels must have been good enough to have been properly looked after buy their owners
The M52 barrel I had on a Winchester 1885s high wall 22 Hornet shot 0.5moa
Shame it weighs about 8 pounds bare

Very cool! I like this because it is something out of the ordinary and shows how expansive our combined culture and recreation can be.
I bought a bsa international a little while back.a good friend got a 12/15 from the same batch.
Whilst I haven't given up on mine.
His shoots just stupid groups.
