there is Tilly the wonder dog again...doing the yard yards to keep the freezers full.good on you two for keeping up the great partnership.
@ Micky Duck you would have liked her work.
I thought I had missed because I could only see its neck and head right on dark, but went over to check. I walked up a bushy gully edge and Tilly picked up where it had come out from being bedded for the day and she back tracked it. I followed her ground scenting with the wind and she went straight to it.
About a 100 yard back track. She barked when she found it.
Awesome. It's great to be able to help the farm owners out when they want it.
So cool, that's where a good dog like Tilly is worth her weight in gold. Another good trip and the cocky should be happy with the meat.
I want me some of those projectiles, takes their head off and guts them at the same time.
Lets see if this works...
A fallow for the freezer would be nice
Bloody easy kill when it cant run away as it has no legs from the knees down.
@mimms I'm guessing you are in Northland? A bit difficult getting meat up there. I would oblige if you could call in and get it.
Another deer under yours and Tillys belt:thumbsup: I'm still recovering from the haul two days ago..itching to get back up in the Ruas again.
Bloody hell @Tahr what did you shoot it with?!
Blew its head, feet, guts and throat out!
Nicely done Bruce
It pays to look after good access.
The A team at work again well done:)
Fallow... very tasty!
A .50 BMG round to a Fallow head just minces it completely
No legs -was it a ranch slider?
If theres a heard like that the place will be crawling with, them
You guys are too funny.
They are a particular strain of deer not unlike a lot of humans ... they are trying to get-a-head in life and achieve great feets, but lack the guts.
I promised a charity a deer for their spring BBQ and someone else a deer for sausages. So yesterday was a cracking day and I thought that it was an ideal time to do it. It was indeed a beautiful evening.
I was very lucky at 4pm because I quickly got onto this one at 275 yards. No trouble for the 270wsm

While I was taking pics Tilly kept looking back in to the gully this one had come from, and sure enough after I had started gutting it another one popped out. Looking for its disappeared mate I guess.
So I carried on and near to dark I popped this one for sausages at about 60 yards.

So I ended up with this pack full of meat off the spiker and the whole Fallow. It took me a couple of trips and 1.5 hours to get it all packed to where my vehicle was. Home at 1am.
