    Some day hunts.

Thought i would put up some pics from a couple of hunts that i have done over the last couple of weeks.
Nothing amazing but some nice country and plenty of animals seen.

Week 1 we seen about 40 deer but most of them spooked before we got close, possibly the glare of our binos, a few though stuck around and we managed to get a deer each.
My Spiker was out at 352 meters and was a nice 1 shot kill, on the way down to it Scotty made comment that we should be on the other side shooting this direction as there seems to be allot of sign where we were walking, whilst i did agree i was concentrating more on the young deer that was watching us come down the hill. I said to Scotty "yep we should but why dont you shoot that one there" "what one" was the reply and i pointed to the side of us and said "that one there that is standing there looking at us" whilst pointing at it.
After a quick gun swap (he had unloaded for the walk to the 1st deer) we had deer number 2 on the deck so we cleaned it up and then made our way to the first.

    352M shot

    Scotty and the young deer.

    The Amax damage.
On the next trip which was Saturday we got to the start of the block to find there was someone there poaching it, but we persevered and made our way to the hunting area pretty much following their foot prints whilst secretly hoping to catch up with them and give them an earful, we never did see them but i have their rego # if i decide to take it to the cops.
We made our way around much the same area as a fortnight ago and while we didnt see as many we still seen close to 20 animals but nothing handy so this time we came home with pics of deer instead of meat, no worries there the freezer is chocka anyway.

    Some of the ground.

    A few hinds out feeding.

    And some more.

Some Stags that snuck away quietly.

All in all the 2 trips were great and i took the pup out for his first hunt as well which was a good training exercise for him.

    Cheers.
