    Sometimes its just too easy!

Today after a 6 day week at work felt like going for a bush stalk for a deer. Decided as my shoulder is getting pretty dodgy again i travel light.
Grabbed my Stoneycreek 25L pack, the trusty 243 and was off at 410am .
Arrived at the spot just on light, parked the car, headed down the bank and attempted to cross the river. Well, the river had alot more water in it than expected.

After 3 attempts, and thinking by the time i got to the middle it was pretty dodgy, very difficult to keep upright i just wasnt going to risk having a swim or worst so pulled the pin on that idea.
Maybe you get across, but by yourself i wasnt risking it so cursing the wasted 15 mins i headed back to the car and try plan B.

Well, hugging the bank on the short walk back where you go up the bank i saw some fresh deer marks. Bugger, must of been here early this morning.
A few feet in front of me was some broom and scrub and thats where the deer marks headed to. Well, fu k me, suddenly the scrub came alive, a animal crashes of and i realze that its the deer that made the marks.

Didnt even have a round in the mag, so grabbed one out of my pocket, loaded one in quick while i hoped back in the creek bed. 50 yards in front of me a Spiker was running away from me.
It stopped, i had it lined up in the crosshairs butk only shot was a texas heart shot which i turned down.
It then bolted right up the bank and BOOM a 100gr Fed Powershok was on its way and i heard the thump of the hit.

Five seconds later the stags rolling back down into the creek...wow, what a piece of luck.
Gutted it, carried it back to the car for the short walk and was on the way home by 645am after some mucking around. Sometimes the hard yards pays off with a easy one

    Cheers
