    Southern Wairarapa Sojourn.

A few months back a couple of mates ( Martin & Mark ) took over the hunting rights on Te Awaiti station on the South Wairarapa coast, it's 20000 acres of scrub covered Deer heaven, so when I got an invite to come down with Big Al ( aka Blaser ) a few weeks ago & check it out I jumped at the chance.

Wow what a mint spot, so much country to glass with plenty of animals to look at.

I had such a good time I decided to shout my mate Shandy for a meat hunt last week, so we meet up Thursday lunch time for a couple of nights at the lodge.
Caleb was meant to come on a fly in Roar trip into the Taraua's this year but with his new career he had to flag that trip & working flat tak for the past few months he hadn't been hunting for ages, so time to fill the freezer.

He took this lop sided fulla out'a the gene pool at approx 120yards on Friday morning.

After a fuck up on my part on Friday arvo, I had a Fallow lined up at 300 but had forgotten to "cock" the Maral ( joys of using a new rifle design lol ) went to fire & nothing happened and missed my chance for the shot, then the weather claged in.

So Saturday morning I finally got to "blood the Browning" knocked this girl over at 315yards

We cruise to another spot & Shandy got this Fallow at 320yards with the 300wsm bush pig.

While guided hunts aren't for everyone they are great fun, cruising around in the side by side, having plenty of animals to choose from & your'e pretty much guaranteed to bowl one or two.

It's good to try new things & Caleb had a ball plus he got to take 3 animals home, Cheers to the boys at Te Awaiti Adventures
Shoot it, root it & then BBQ it !!!
