    Spotlighting with the Dundee Family

I'll let Dundee himself fill you in with the details but this weekend I headed up to the Manawatu from Wellington to learn a thing or two about the daily running of a farm and hopefully bag some hares and rabbits for the dog (and maybe me too!)

The drive wasn't as long as I expected and I enjoyed the new scenery. Plowing through the misty valleys on a highway I didn't have to share was a pretty good way to spend a morning I reckoned! After untintentionally sailing past the Dundee homestead and getting some strange looks from a mob of cows, I figured I'd gone past the place and headed back down the gravel road. I knew it was going to be a good day when I was greated by the two egar black dogs and a big smiling mug of Mr Dundee himself.

After a brew and family introductions, we headed out on the quads. I really enjoyed moving the cows to new grass, feeding out and evening watching Dundee get pooed on when he had to milk one of the big girls who was a bit early.

Possum trapping with the one and only Possum Trapper himself was great. I have never met such a switched on, keen eyed young man as this one. Cheers Daniel for teaching me all about trapping and even how to make a fishing fly.

Dundee can fill you in on how the shooting went.

Thanks so much for all four of the Dundees (and dogs, and neighbours, and cows..) for an amazing couple of days. Gotta love good sorts like you.

Jet's gone a bit nuts around the spot in the lawn where I cut up the hare - hubby wasn't keen on him eating the fur. He gobbled down his first third last night. I taunted the princess flatmate with the pelt with head still attached

Just looking up a recipe for that roast leg now! Yum, can't wait!
