    Thompson’s track/hundred acres

    Hi all, long time

Has anyone been up Thompson’s track recently? If so what’s the condition?
Heading up there on Friday morning to check out hundred acres area then down to kauritatahi
For a gander. Been at least a year since I’ve been in that side. Cheers. Report to follow

The first bog hole is about 150 metres from the car park, if you get a vehicle through that you have done well and the rest should be a breeze...if you are walking then wear rugby boots to get some traction and swap to hunting boots when you get to the logging road...no council work has been done on the track for years and I spoke to the guy from the council and he says no work planned anytime soon...plenty of deer around up there, just not in fat condition as yet.

will follow with interest as I was looking at Kauritatahi hut as a possible weekend hunt in late October/November.
Was about to post the same question myself.
Subject to dates its here if early or kaimanawa's if later November/december.

Quick update Thompson’s track is in the worst condition I’ve seen in a few years
Made for a fun scramble up in the dark this morning. Bit of fresh sign around hundred acres nothing amazing
Gets a lot better further south. Looks like a few dirt bikes and 4x4s go up there, possibly spotlighting.

Ps no vizla’s seen unfortunately and heaps of cloud

Not such a great hut, but plenty of Koura and deer nearby.
The hut was replaced many moons ago so depends if you mean the "old" hut or the "new" one.

One of the dairy farmers that helped maintain the track on the Waikato side past just recently. The councils have done nothing much to it since the 80s.
It's all fun and games till Darthvader comes along
I respect your beliefs but don't impose them on me.
