Tonight’s, tonight.

This stag came right out into the open quite early tonight. I waited a while to see if anything else was going to come out, but this one got all alert (maybe he caught my wind, it was swirling). I was quite close, so I shot him (.243). I was trying the 80 grn Speer Hot Core.Did the job. 1 1/2 hours for the carry out, over to PNth to drop the meat off at one of my sons, and home to Wellington at 12.30am. Still not in bed yet at 1.30am. :)

I’m off to the Staes for a couple of weeks for work on Tuesday, so that’s me done for a few weeks.

Yeah, great. 218 yds, lung shot at angle and bullet under skin after breaking opposite shoulder. I will post a pic of the bullet. Also took pics of the in and out, but a bit yuck for on here. 95 grain Targex are great, but need to be used with care. They are quite fragile.

On ya tar, take care in the states they are a bit gun mad over there ya never know wot is going to happen next. But hey you know how to shoot back:thumbsup:

Tahr have you thought about regularly writing for a magazine? I love your style and I'm sure there's more than a few of us who enjoy your sense of humour! :)

Just a thought before I depart. The cocky who’s place I got this stag on allows me access I think mainly because he’s fascinated that I do the hard yards. That is, that I walk out to the bush to hunt, and carry my deer back. Anyone else who hunts there, uses a quad. Which I could do if I wanted to, but I think that it would spoil things. I would become “just another hunter” on the property. Its got to where now it’s become “Tahr’s spot”, and he keeps hunters away from “Tahr's” little area. Its nice. There is this mutual respect thing going on, which wouldn’t exist if I was just another typical quad hunter. And I enjoy the walking.
