    Trip Report

    • Family hike on the weekend. 7 hours in the hot sun. Lucky we bought a tarp for sun shelter on the way.
    • Got to hut, had dinner etc.
    • Glassing from the hut, spotted pigs.
    • Shot a pig across a valley. 300m.
    • Went to find it.
    • Crossed river.
    • Smashed my phone on rocks, lost walky talky, lost range finder.
    • Got lost in matagouri maze.
    • Crossed river.
    • Went back to hut.
    • Got other walky talky.
    • Crossed river.
    • Hiked back in.
    • Found the walky talky and range finder.
    • Crossed river.
    • Dropped them back at the hut.
    • On comms with daughter back at hut.
    • Went out in the dark. Crossed river.
    • Found the pig.
    • Pig was still alive.
    • Charged the pig with trekking pole and knife.
    • Stuck the pig.
    • Got lost in matagouri again.
    • Thought I was going to have to spend the night stuck under matagouri.
    • Cut my way out.
    • Daughter on comms and flashlight guiding me back.
    • Got back to the hut after midnight.
    • In the morning, on the toilet I saw a hare.
    • We all stalked in on the hare.
    • Daughter about to shoot.
    • It ran off to 150m away.
    • Steep up hill. Daughter shot it off the pack.
    • Nailed it.
    • Hiked out 6 hours back to the car.
    • Full of splinters.
    • Wife carried the meat.
    • Great weekend.

    Wife carried the meat.

Great report, and that's my favourite line. You sound like the type that gladly suffers for his family's enjoyment.

    Something to aspire to—-
Now I’ll just have to borrow someone’s wife to carry the meat.

Bullet points. Very appropriate on a hunting forum I guess.
Sounds like a bit of type 2 fun.

Any of the hunting magazines going to pay you for that?
I'd consider buying a magazine with trip reports like that in it
