Thread: Trip Report - daughter's first deer

• My daughter's first deer!
• She’s been putting in a lot of effort — countless weekends spent target shooting at various ranges.
• Getting really comfortable with her kid-sized Elude .223 setup.
• There were a few missed opportunities along the way — deer spooked from not getting ready fast enough — but good learning experiences.
• Over Anzac weekend, everything finally came together.
• Up at the crack of dawn, we spotted three stags on the opposite face.
• She crept into position, staying patient, assessing their movement and waiting until they were in range.
• Made the decision to target the spiker, leaving the bigger stags.
• Took about 10 practice dry-fires while waiting for the optimal shot.
• Ranged and dialled everything perfectly. Quite steep uphill.
• When the moment was right, she sent a perfect shot — the spiker dropped within seconds.
• Shot distance was 209m.
• We have great confidence in the Elude .223 with the 73gr ELD-M when you can place the shot well.
• Both myself and a mate who was with us were seriously impressed with the patience and decisiveness she showed.

Absolutely proud moment. Great memories made!
