    Two days and nights in the Ruahine Range.

    Dropped my gear off at the hut.

    Instructions from Stagslayer 12 were to crank the fire up as I would arrive first.So I did.

    I drank a few cold ones while I waited and when I heard Stagslayer 12 ute turn up I went out to help bring his gear into the hut. Grabbed his gun case and geeze it was weighty.

    We drunk more piss and had a feed when we thought we better call it a night as it was after midnight.
    0530 Reveille followed by a feed of porridge and a hot cuppa.Up the Ruahine Ranges with headlamps on to get to chosen location before sunrise.What a mission! Sweat soaked clothes once on top.

    Two shots rang out at 0905,the beast went down then got back up and disappeared over the ridge.A frantic search went on for 3hrs when blood trail was lost.

    Now the mission was to get back to the truck,another slog but no more deer to be seen.Packs were not as heavy as we had hoped thou.

    Back at the ute having tired weory bodies we drove back to camp for a cook up hoping not to meet any loggers on the way.

    More beersies and a few more yarns and it was after midnight again.
    Oopps we slept in so headed here for the sunrise,while Stagslayer 12 went up the top I glassed the clearings.
