My own Snee Rd again...
Went out to check the game camera last night but never got to it.
Tilly winded into a big patch of Tawa bush so I sat and waited. Eventually she winded over her shoulder and there was a spiker sneaking around behind us. It disappeared into a gutter but five minutes later she picked it up again and was staring/pointing at it. I got in behind her and followed her line of sight and there it was again grazing in the bush but it had climbed up to the bush fringe. 98 yards. So he copped a 270wsm in behind the shoulder...poleaxed.
The spiker ended up in a hell of a place to recover and I had to drag him out of a heap of stinging nettle. I got stung to hell, but Tilly had dived in after him and was un-affected. I will post a pic of her and the deer in the nettles tomorrow.
At the shot, a Fallow buck bolted into view. His head was pretty spindly (I had seen him last weekend, and he was a mature buck), so I shot him too (155 yards). He was likely the first one she had winded.
At the shot he carried on running without a falter and then after anther 15 yards he lost the battle with gravity and came tumbling back down.
It was well dark and late by the time I had finished dealing to them so the camera will have to wait for another time. Maybe I should leave my rifle at home (or show some constraint ).
