Thread: We are All Doomed

Greetings All,
That sounded like a snappy title but don't panic as it is unlikely to happen for another 250 million years.
Apparently the scientists have predicted that due to plate tectonics (the movement of the crustal plates on which the continents sit) by 250 million years from now all the continents including Antarctica will be piled up in one giant traffic jam. Unfortunately this is also likely to result in much higher temperatures, up to 60 degrees Celsius mean summer temperatures with maximums well above that. The scientists have thoughtfully named this new super continent Pangea Ultima. If this sounds far fetched it has all happened before, several times.
Unfortunately this is likely to wipe out humanity as we know it. What happens to New Zealand? It seems to be spared the continental pile up but drifts away to the North West and sinks below the waves, also not for the first time. This does not allow for the effects of burning fossil fuel.

I don't place much stock in all these 'guesses' via computer models.

Unless its backed up by Keith Richards: he's seen it all before.

There must be a tax that would prevent this.

At least we won't have to fly to see the world we will be able to drive everywhere.

Actually that's good news cause worrying about carbon emissions is now pointless.

They are still going to tax you on it anyway. Got to syphon off that money some how.

When I was at school a few years ago now , we were told the sun was going to go “super nova” and BBQ everything!

I do wish they would make up their minds!

They can't figure out next weeks weather.

That is quite right. The sun will end in a super nova and crispy fry earth but not for another4 billion years, time for another few continental pile ups. Getting past 2,100 is a more immediate problem. That would be a stretch for most Forum members I would expect.
