As far as I know you still have a 10 day isolation period. That would put a damper on any holiday.
Definitely keen to do NZ and meet some forum folk.

@CBH Australia Yeh my Daughter is a Nurse in Melbourne & has been looking at when she might finally be able to visit & l think she was saying to the Missus they still have the 10 day Quarantine listed up till August. The morons here are still hiding from the Omicron here, so we are at least 6 months behind the inevitable spread & they are heading us towards it hitting badly right at the worst time in Winter & by then the next variant will be world wide .

IMO you may be better off looking at doing the trip next year, as no one would want to be wasting away in quarantine for 10 days on a holiday ,as you are not fussed about a trophy, look at coming in our summer so better weather for sight seeing in a camper van & plenty of hunting opportunities .

Keep us informed on your plans ,as you can see plenty of room for you & the missus either at the Farm or down at the Bach & as long as the timing matches up with our own plans ,there is no need to worry about bringing anything but your selves, as l have a selection of rifles you can borrow & gear left over from Kitting up clients.

We have been on what they call a Heavy Rain Warning Orange here meaning rainfall in the storm fronts may drop up to 30mm a hour & river rises & minor flooding & Slips possible .Supposed to blow itself out tonight so if it does we are heading off for a couple of days hunting after cancelling the last 4 dayer, aftyer these sought of Storm fronts go through the Deer are just as keen to get out in the open country & feed on new grass & browse coming up, so it is a good time/conditions to do some recon for the Roar

While the weather is shitty l have been smoking some of Snags from our Salami & Sausage making session ,great for lunch & Smoko on the Tops while glassing .

Where are you going Deer hunting over there with your mate & what species ?

    I have 2 mates,
Phill the mad keen Deer hunter is after a Hog deer and I'm gonna take a meat animal to share. There are Reds in the area. Privare land. Thats South East South Australia.

I'm also making plans with a Nurse from Melbourne.

Actually a male nurse from another forum.
He hunts public land I think. All going well I can plan a trip with him.

These guys and hunting areas are 800 km from me

I have other mates but the mates I have locally don't hunt as such.
I've also had some good yarns with forum members with similar interests and different experiences.
Freed up a bit now and looking to make some good memories, take trips and make new friends along the way.

As far as omicron and next variants or how many vaccination s they will mandate , I'm not sure of anything but I think we will be learning to live with it.
Restrictions are easing here but let's hope we see some sort of normal again.

The way life should be lived

When we were touring around Oz ,our "Bush Pig" 4x4 Twin Cab Canter Camper rig would attract attention & while we camped in the Vic High Country chasing Sambar ,we got mates with a few of the blokes in the Sambar Hound hunting crews & as well as inviting us along on Hound Hunts ,they ended up taking us Hog Deer hunting on one of their families land, me & the Missus scored a few ,great little critters to hunt & really good eating, l took them hunting Tahr ,Chammy ,Sika hunting & Diving here .

    Good Luck with the hunts

Bush Pig doing another Lap of Oz , on the way to the Tip of Cape York. Our travels in Bush Pig over just over 2 years on & off were all about just relaxing & making some good memories, taking trips and making new friends along the way
