    There's a lot to be said for shooting deer at 50 yds rather than 500 specially near dark.

    Something that I didn't mention about the 425 yard shot at the pig that I missed was that when I dialled my scope back to the zero lock after the shot I noticed that when I had sighted the rifle in last week I had reset the turret to "1" MOA instead "0". So my shot would have been 4" lower than it ought to have been.

    As Brian commented, if you can hold to 1 moa at 400 yards, that's a 4" circle, and if you add the 4" dialing error you are out to a bigger circle again, and then add the wind...

    No wonder I missed.

    I had reset the dial to zero before we shot the stag.

    Im gaging for a hunt haven't been out in ages & after reading your reports im getting cabin fever but the weather has been shit for sometime , mite go for a B8 tomorrow instead ...anyway good luck .
