Now that you’ve given the short 7mm RM a good test, how does it compare with your old .284 WIN? It looks like the deer wouldn’t have noticed any difference! :-)
I’ve got a Tikka 7mm RM here but am yet to shot a deer with it.

Yup i’d say the deer don’t notice much difference on most shots. I do miss that 284 and might have the re barrel to 260 one day hahah. I definitely prefer the rem mag for confidence in the bigger shots with that extra speed though. To be fair they had a 400fps difference as the 284 was pretty short at 17”. 7mm SAUM on a short action is definitely my next want when life allows but for the meantime I’m loving the faithful rem mag and I’m not sure I could let it go.
