Last week 5 of us crossed on the ferry and headed down south. We dropped my 2 sons off at a spot of theirs on the way down south and then myself and 2 others carried on down to the McKenzie.
We only had 2.5 days to hunt but still managed 4 Tahr. The boys got 2 deer and a chamois.
Here's a few pics. No need for a story.
My Mitsi, sporting new Cooper AT3 tyres. They were great in the snow and on the rocks, maybe won't be so good in mud. Beautiful on the road.
I shot a couple of Tahr with the .243. Shot them up in the bluffs (as you do), and then dragged them both right down to the creek to butcher them. That took a couple of hours, and I left one gutted and opened up for the morning. I got back to him at 11am the next day and he was still half frozen. Bugger of a time knifing the skin off.
Me a bit buggered back down at the creek and looking about a 100 years old...
Where they fell to after I shot them, and looking my real age of 99. Range 200 yards, .243, 95 grn Targex. Rifle Browning X Bolt Micro. One shot each.
Here's a few of the boys' pics...
