    Wyoming and Montana Adventure

I should be out hunting but stuck at home, so decided to post photos of my USA hunt last year. I was fortunate enough to draw deer tags in Wyoming and Montana.

I was originally planning to hunt in October but was forced to change to November, which I think turned out to be a good move as I could then hunt the rut. I flew into Bozeman and headed down to Meeteetse. Second day hunting I had a whitetail that I was very happy with.

After dropping off the head and skin for a euro mount and tanning I headed up to Montana for a mule deer hunt. Had my mulie within a few days of hunting days thanks to some amazing help from a local hunter. Was a very cool hunt and enjoyed the walk in / pack out for a few miles.

Spent the rest of my time scouting and even shooting a coyote which I am having tanned and the skull cleaned. I called the coyote in to about 200 yards.

Also did a quick visit to Yellowstone and watched wolves hunting elk and big horn sheep, was amazing to see these predators at work.

Anyone thinking of heading over there to hunt, do it.

Both of those states are fantastic.

Thanks NRT. Not sure of the weigh but around the same size as a fallow buck. They are probably bigger in Wyoming that most people think.

Thanks. Where are you planning to hunt in Canada? They have great hunting there but tags can be hard to get. I hunted Alberta a couple of years ago and shot a bear with my bow.

Both are great bucks but that mule deer is a real achievement, especially on public land (which it was, I guess).

    Yes, both public land deer.

gps follower - I prefer the mule deer too. Cool look looking deer and they tend to live in more interesting mountain country. The Wyoming tag i had was for mule deer in Oct and that was my plan but fortunately the same tag changed to whitetail in Nov so i was able to hunt at the later date. Last year they had a lot of snow in Oct so it would been great mule deer hunting as the unit i had included some big mountainous country where big mule deer live and head to the lower part once bad weather hits.

In 2018 I hiked the whole Continental Divide through the US Rocky Mountains. I hiked through both Montana and Wyoming, the mountains were amazing! I saw many hundreds of Elk, Mule Deer and Whitetail, but probably none with heads that big. Must have been a great experience.
