Xmas bbq sorted
Finished work early and arranged temporary leave pass with the mrs so boosted the 2 hr drive to pureora to cut my way into a old track which was badly overgrown, took suppressed .308 with the aimpoint just in case of an attack by a deer and I had to defend myself, finished the track in couple of hours leaking plenty of fluids(sweat and a bit of blood) sneaking my way back to the road when this guy magically appeared about 30m ahead unaware of me and the dog..bbqs sorted and only 400m from the truck..Attachment 239438

Nice one. An easy walk back.

Was with another much larger animal but only got a look at its rear end as it left the track of its own accord so thought I would sit for a minute and see if it was going to come back as the wind was in my favour but this guy decided to make his way onto the track instead, think they might have been hanging together so the other deer might have been a stag as well, was a decent sized rear end, never saw the front half of the bigger animal.

They don’t always come that easy, nice when they do though.

@The bomb I hope you’ve got an undercover area to barbecue over Christmas because when we checked the forecast today it’s bloody awful for the Waikato! Still some time for the Mets to change their mind but at this stage looks like we’re in for a sopping wet Christmas unfortunately.
