    Xmas venni!

The weather for thursday afternoon was hot and humid and I was going thru a farm walk with a mate who is going to Wanaka and what happen's when you go for a farm walk? you spot a water problem on a hot day!.So we track the problem to worn leather's in the pump shed and go about repairing the water leak sweat pissing of the brow but it got done and when we walked out of the sauna the wind had stopped and screamed arvo hunt!!.So after a quick fluid stop and gear up we head over to a nice spot to scan some bush edge's,less than a minute later we spot 2 deer left and right of us, we choose the one with the favourable wind and head up to get in closer,we didn't have much time to piss around it was 2015 when we spotted the yearling so had to make good time into a shooting spot.we stalked in from around 600 m and most of it was in dead ground so once we got into position I was 120yds away and in the time we had been stalking it had made its way back into the bush edge so time was ticking!.Steady the breathing................. its noticed us for a breif moment then went back to browsing............the neck was side on and she was nice and still i settled on her neck and then let the chain of a 80 grain targex projectile fully confident it was going were i wanted it to!.....boompha!!!! she falls instantly to the targex happy to secure xmas lunch we made our way over to see the shot.Right on target and managed to extract the projectile out of her shoulder on the other side, she was a perfect eater. No time for pissing around my mate headed back to bring the ute down to the bottem of the hill while i dressed it out in the fading light.I met my mate at the bottem and we had one more job to do.........shift some cows at 2100 at night because the farm we were on had an electricle fault in his pumpshed!!!.job done at ten oclock at night Myself and two cobbers sat on the grass deer in the boot and under brilliant moonlight looking into the ruahines sat on the grass drinking piss talking shit........as happy would say the world was in order at that point and time. Two days later after dropping it in the mates chilla i get help skinning it from my 5 year old who was keen as to skin it DAD!!!!

On ya Neckshot. That young fellah of yours has got tough written all over him. He will be a hunter for sure.

Oh, Neckers, I should've clicked who you were yonks ago! I kept thinking, "Dannevirke, south Ruahines, he must be close to VP...." Haha, you couldn't be any closer! Gonna do the 50m RB next year? Me and The Boy might have to try and get there.
