    The year gets better...

    Last night.

    My mate Brian went off stalking a velvety we had seen earlier and I carried on hunting (Brian got the stag @ 260 yds with his 6.5-06).

    Toward evening I spotted a hind and yearling and got opposite them at 323 yards. Wathced them for a while and then took the yearling ( a little knobby). Middle of the shoulder hit with the 300saum and first kill with the 168 grn long Range Accubonds. Very impressed - good exit and blood train.

    Steep little carry back out but it keeps me young.

    The deer was by the top tree and ended up down by the creek. Steeper than it looks.

    You can see the blood splatter here on the tree as it bowled down.

    Here she is. A fairly simple find for her.

    @veitnamcam 3030 fps using N550. 20" Barrel

    3100 with R17 but I don't have much so am sticking to the N550.

    Dont waste your time chasing every last fps, it doesnt matter in the real world, it wont make a difference, all it will do is cause head aches and frustrations. And dont listen to silly old cunts

    Seems very similar to my 30-284 tho I have 5 more inches of barrel.

    Good shooting.
    Did you have much trouble getting the accubonds to shoot well?
