    ŠKODA Octavia wagon new

Looking at these as a replacement car and am fortunate enough to be able to afford a new one.

Does anyone have a ŠKODA Octavia wagon that they bought in last year or so?
What’s good and bad about them?

I’ve decided to buy new so anything about the cons of buying new won’t help

Had a customer with a 1year old skody complaining about a rubbing noise left front.... Brake pads were worn to the steel ... Skody dealer had given it a full service 1 month earlier and missed it

Not really just that they are "tinny" compared to the commodores they used to have and aren't as planted on the road, I think a few have been back for warranty issues also however I'm not sure of the specifics on that.

As long as your only planning on having it while in warranty you'll be fine. A second hand S4 cost me a fortune. Plenty to choose from in that platform, id look at the others as well, Audi, VW, Cupra etc. otherwise get a Toyota or nissan for long ownership.

I’ve had pretty extensive experience driving the 206?kw AWD versions, and driving them pretty hard at times.

They go like stink and stick to the road like shit to a blanket, I don’t think they’re quite as robust as the Holdens but they would run circles around them in just about every way.

They are low to the ground and I’ve blown a sump out of one, but turned off as soon as oil warning came on. To be fair it was on a forestry road too. Around town they’re fine.

Exceptional amount of leg room in The back seat area and good amount of boot space.

Good stereo/carplay system etc, very comfortable to drive.

I’ve driven the FWD lower power version once and it was noticeably average.

I’d happily buy one as a personal car, good family wagon, as long as it’s just for around town/tar seal driving. You can get a lift put in them which I think they’re doing as standard for police cars now.

    Interesting.
I have driven vw/audi exclusively pretty much my entire life, until I came to NZ, and can’t fault them.

Not sure why every kiwi I talk to reckons they are shite. Maybe the ones shipped here are built somewhere else.

Having said that, I will never get rid of the prado. Best truck I’ve ever owned.

I need a station wagon which limits the options and Audi adds $20k odd to the price.

Oh I have driven them don't you worry.

I will further clarify my statement.

I will not touch anything Volkswagen that was built after... around 2010 (?)... When planned obsolecence was becoming common practice with their cars and any remnants of quality control or common sense when designing went out the window...

And yes its a shame, I still think that they are beautiful cars. But I am past the point in my life where I need a nice looking car. Something that does not immediately fail after 3 years is far more important now.
