    12v Air compressor - what's the goods?

Cooked my $20 trade me version no surprises there

Looking for something a bit better quality but not ridiculous as only used for kids bikes and the quad with the odd car tyre.

I'd say budget of $100 or so.

    What are you guys running?

    12v Air compressor - what's the goods?

I’ve got an ‘ARB’ branded one under the bonnet, pumps up tyres and ski biscuits. About six years old and still goes so that’s a plus

Probably cost prohibitive to send it.

Boss air suspension do some good stuff.

Otherwise Supercheap units seem to work well for occasional use.

Why not a basic foot pump? Much faster and quieter than those small 12v machines.

If you get a good deal on here, awesome. But I wouldn't waste my money buying a $100 pump.
Does it need to be 12V? If not, perhaps buy something that works with other gear you already have, Ryobi/AEG system etc. retains portability if that is a requirement.
Kids bikes(20PSI +), and even quad tyres(4-6PSI) you could do with a decent foot/hand pump.
Buy a decent compressor in the $250 plus price range and with light use you'll never need another.
A decent mid price pump from Repco or Supercheap should see you right. A twin piston compressor will move way more air for car tyres etc. But for standard size tyres again probably not needed.

I waited and got the biggest super cheap twin piston one on sale, can't recall what it was but it was less than a middle of the road one. Has worked really well when needed (10-15times) in the last 2years.

As others have pointed out, the powered compressors are really only needed on large car tyres, and SUV tyres in particular. Bicycle, trail bike, quad and side x side tyres are easily serviced with a quality hand pump. Those cheap foot pumps are, well, cheap. Go to Torpedo7 and pick up a decent sized quality hand pump. In almost all cases you will be pumping for a minute or less. Less time than you will need to go find the air compressor, move a vehicle close enough for the lead to reach, lift the bonnet and connect up!

The longest time I have had to use a hand pump was 15 minutes, but that was on a 285/75R16 on my Landy that had picked up a frick'n MTB axle retention pin. Had to remove tyre off truck, demount tyre, fix with mushroom patch, remount and inflate. All doable with a quality hand pump

Kings thumper MKII if you want 12V, best bang for buck out there if you ever intend to do car tyres imo. (I they thermal cut dont go bypassing thermal protection, ask how i know).
Or any 18v battery powered portable compressor for bike tyres / quads only.

This is making the most sense at the moment. AEG one that can use my batteries. Good for 4x4, quad, bike and caravan missions too.
