Are you running 2x12v batteries in series? If you are, take you supply from the terminals of one battery only?

Did'nt you chuck out a 24/12 converter early on,might have to put it back.
Real guns start with the number 3 or bigger and make two holes, one in and one out

Have two smaller 12V (10 amp?) in the front.

Don't run off one battery. I killed a battery like that. Uneven charge is very bad for them.
Exactly. If you run off one battery you will kill them as one slowly gets over charged and the other gets under charged. It is a good idea to remove them and charge them separately about every 3 months anyway because they have always have different capacities anyway. If you are passing back through this way @gimp I have a reasonably grunty converter sitting here that was going to go into the Safari but wont for obvious reasons.

Nah I didn't take it out, it's hooked up to my trailer socket & only good for 10A

I think the smartest solution is to buy a 24V compressor

Could also look at converting air con compressor to air. Most vehicles that age the rest of the system is bung and they don't hold gas for long so are only used as an idler pulley.

Certain Sanden A/C pumps convert to awesome pumps, they have an internal oil sump for lubrication.

I've pulled my A/C idler and belt so the compressor is just sitting there doing nothing. May look at converting it to an air compressor.

    Get another converter?
What sort of current will the compressor draw?

Reviving this old girl since I've been there.

I've done a separate 12v house batteries in the back to run 12v air with a vitron 24-12v charger

Single tapping a 12v batter from 24v system and a vitron batter balancer to sort out the imbalance.

I'd recommend sticking with 12v, if you ever sell it a 12v unit moves alot easier.

but I would generally not do that. You'll have the full charging current for the low/tapped battery, flowing through the charged/high battery...Not good.

I've installed one of these into a 24/12v jump starting battery bank. Its limited current to a few amps. Keeps ticking along after imbalance event to sort out the batteries. Even with a pure 24v system you will eventually build up an inbalance between the two 12v banks.
