Thread: 2013 Ford Mondeo 2.0 TDCI

Hi all. I've been offered a very tidy well maintained 2013 Ford Mondeo for a few grand, does or have anyone owned one of these? Are they any good? Any common issues I should know of? thanks.

One of the gearboxes was poos normally why they end up cheap

Had a 2007 mondeo 2 litre. Gearbox shit itself.that model was last year before changing to new shape. They are a shared gearbox auto with mazda ..from memory a c4.. gearbox.if it's manual it would be fine .but I'd sray away from the auto.box..I changed ours cost me 1k for a box years ago and did the work myself.

Mate of mine has one of these that his staff use as a run around car between farms and it's been a reliable steed. I took it from Oamaru down to gore and back a couple of times when my old hilux was in pieces and I was well impressed with how peppy it was for a diesel and it also just sipped fuel probably the most economical thing I've ever driven l, I can't remember exact numbers but I was well impressed with how little fuel it used

The Mondeo has 3 different transmissions, manual, very rare, Automatic trans (operates like all auto transmissions with multiple clutches and planetary gearsets) and the DCT (Dual Clutch Transmission, this is a manual transmission that is operated automatically and has a habit of failing and expensive to repair properly)

the 2011 - onwards focus,kuga, mondeo used the dct250 and just look at trademe for cars that have gearbox problems they are renowned for shitting themselves parents had to replace gearbox on their 2014 focus 2L diesel for that reason
before that the mondeos had the powershift and they were in the same basket known for shitting the bed randomly. Awesome on diesel mine used under 5L 100km on road trips and up to 6L/100 with abit of around town and open road.
if your mechanically minded they can be bargains as its a known issue lots of videos on youtube about how to fix and repair and get on the road for under 1000$ in parts and a day or 2 in work to repair
