    I’d be keen to know a bit more about the “99% can’t handle the flow rate” part. That doesn’t ring true to me. I’ve worked with large fleets of Land Cruiser and Hilux that all ran pre-factory and final (post-factory) filters right down to 5 µm.

    Never seen or heard of one of these that couldn’t handle the flow rate.
    I've picked up bug/water contaminated fuel only filling at commercial fill stations. Most commercial (or more correctly retail) fill sites are not using 'filters' - more a case of strainers with a fine gauze that will only pick up solids. The 'bug' as it was called actually wasn't cellular in form so we aren't even sure if it was bug or if it was a bit of water mixed with an additive or treatment of some sort. Rather weird though...
