Or a Mazda? Unfortunately nothing else survives engine wise. 2L twin turbo grenade young, even the hilux didn't live through 100,000km. This failure was the result of dealer not following instructions from 2013 to alter the servicing schedule to a more frequent one so not really the fault of the engine or the design - if it wasn't fuced up by the workshop likely wouldn't have failed. Problem is now what to replace it with, the only option is looking like the 3L V6 diesel which means another Ranger.
More frequent serviceing is probably not gonna help the longevity of your pump and injectors unless you constantly put dirty fuel in it/run it on waste oil etc.
