Go and join ih8mud.com - they have a really good tech section organised by series - I spend a bit of time on there after 80 series stuff.
Nice project you have there. Lots of work ahead. I have a long running Hilux rebuild/project. So far I've turned this:

Into this:

Attachment 222565
It's in the shop for fabrication, welding, paint and cert before coming home for reassembly.
There's lots of Aussies on ih8mud who have done it all before to draw knowledge from.
Good luck.
Spent the morning at the shop the other day, mostly just sorting through parts. Had the auto sparky drop round and we got the loom all laid out hopefully get the loom wrapped and fitted later next week and make a start on all the under dash stuff. Sorry no pics but really wasn't much to show. :x_x:
I was going to suggest Kent distributors in Christchurch for parts of you need any but they don't seem to have much in the way of 60 Land cruiser stuff but they might be able to help you out if you need anything. Lots for Hilux. It was far cheaper to get a new set of guards, bonnet and grill than to have the old dinged up stuff reconditioned.
I would love a new twin headlight center grill to go with my new headlight surrounds but have been unable to find any that aren't prohibitively expensive.
My grill is fine but the chrome is faded and peeling but otherwise it is undamaged, just looks ugly next to the new headlight surrounds. I could get it re coated with chrome powdercoat and that would still be much cheaper than any of the aftermarket parts I've been able to find overseas.
Spent another 3 hours on the cruiser today, most of the loom is back in, the heater and aircon fans, ducting and blower motor and such is now in situ back under the dash where it belongs. Hopefully either on Sunday or Monday I'll get back over and get the rest of the dash, cluster air on controls etc back in.
My new aftermarket headers arrived from oz yesterday so today I presoaked all the manifold studs with penetrating oil in the hope of getting the headers fitted next week too whilst the sparky works on getting all the engine bay stuff connected and tested.
Pics don't look like much but we have actually accomplished quite a bit today. As this used to be a diesel there's a few things that need to be changed about on the engine bay loom but the sparky is all over it and has a special passion for 60 series trucks which has already proven very useful.

Looks like you have a lot of work ahead of you@dannyb . This was the boss's pride and joy. When he passed away the family decided to do it up. Just got it back this week.Has had a repaint, rust removed and new rims/tyres. Still handles like a boat but it's a cool old truck.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...1bc307b2ab.jpg

a lot of hard work there , but coming along good
I was at the Toyota Museum in Nagoya Japan yesterday and this was on display. I didn’t realize the Landcruiser was launched back in the 1950’s.

They came down this way as part of the equipment package to build the snowy mountain hydro scheme in the early 50s.

Loving all the old cruiser porn guys
I spent another couple hours on the cruiser today got all the actuator push pull cables for the heater controls hooked up and mounted the heater controls and inclinometer. Plugged all electronics in for the heater and air con.
Then moved to the engine bay to remove the old cast manifold and fit the new headers, bit of a mission and managed to strip one of the manifold bolts when refitting it must have had some shit in there :psychotic: , will try chase it out with a tap next time i go back.

Lucky I didn't see that listing... been looking for a project like that (not that my 80 will ever be "finished")
Enjoying watching your progress
Love the 60 series, couply pics of my old wagon (long sold).

Thats a nice looking truck @one_seven. Like the bumpers, but man that front left has a heap of lead on it...
Bumpers hand made by me, and 35s = lots of lead I suppose. Truck also had an injected LT1 chevy, which was fancy at the time (2006). Made cool noises and better economy than the 3F...
Any reason why you weren't keen on a 2JZ in it since you're going petrol. They're a lot newer than a 3F and very reliable.
Another pic from the archive - let me know if I should stop,

It's been nearly 2 months since my last visit to the truck, managed to sneak out today, didn't get a lot done spent most of my time fossicing through boxes of parts to find all the internal parts for my doors.
Window regulators, door lock, door handles, lock mechanism, check straps, window guides etc etc.
Got the passenger door all completed and back together ready to hang. No point hanging it till seat mounts and molded floor etc in the cab are completed.
, my drivers door still needs painting so hopefully getting onto that in the next couple months, have bonnet, guards roof and a bit at the back of the cab to spray so hoping to do that all at the same time.
I have also made the decision to remove the wellside, and put a flat deck on, as much as the wellside conversion has been done to a good finish, I much prefer the idea of a flat deck for what I intend on using this truck for. The idea of garking up he wellside has been on my mind since I bought it and a flat deck would be much better.
I have masked up up the side of the truck where I intend to chop the cab following the contour of the back of the cab(this is the vertical line), the horizontal line represents the height I want to have the flat deck sitting at which is in line with the top of the inside of the wheel arch. This should improve departure angle and less prone to getting dinged and scratched up when I'm out doing dumb shit in it.
Happy to build a deck but if anyone has a 1800wide flat deck sitting around I could be interested. Would need to be 1500L or longer.
Anyway here's a pic of the chop masked out. Might get back tomorrow and start pulling fuel lines and looms out of the wellside in preparation for surgery.

good to see someone else doing it for a change. We get those type of jobs dropped on us a bit. Current one is a ss chevelle
I have the luxury of time and dry storage....also a full engineering shop at my mates where it is currently stored. Double edged sword though as its 30-40 min drive from home so getting over there has to be planned for when we can both be there. Getting the auto sparky there takes even more coordination but it's doable just no rushing.
the Hori in me says make a hybrid deck....and to hell with the dinging up.... remove the bottom metal you think will get hit, make sliding compartment on existing tray and have flat deck onto the top...
You're doing good!
This is where I'm at with mineAttachment 229146
Micky just no.....will do it properly  :yaeh am not durnk:
Bit more progress, removed the rear loom, disconnected the fuel tank and moved the fuel lines.
Then got busy with the Saber saw, this cut is just to get the bulk of the deck out the way, the final trim will be flush with the back of the cab this will be done with a cutting disk and an angle grinder.
I need to move the brace the original builder put in as it's behind the cab and will get in the way for making the back of the cab flush ready for the new flat deck. Plenty of room to put a brace inside the cab just need to buy some box section and sheet metal. Good progress today anyway.
