I'm a 70 series supporter cause it dis what I need it to do. Overpriced fuel guzzling beast
I have a 2005 Navarra for a Townie 300k on clock. Never a issue, but eating clutches tonight a boat , easily tows , but clutches can't handle yge ramps
For the price and what they give u a triton is is not a bad option. Servicing , warranty , running costs from what I told is better than most. 7yr warranty etc. Some ov the older trades around here buy em as they need the "looks" as capable offroad as most, definitely a step up in comfort from my Toyota
Mitsibushi makes some very long lasting motors on the light trucks, same technology. I just bought a old pajero for my trip, half the price than anything else. Ye i know it's a Paj, but will get me there
My 15/16 colorado was great. Solid and reliable and still going strong for my mate who bought it. Now on a new hilux and my only complaint is the cab space is tighter then what I had in the colorado. Other then that, love it.
I have a 2019 ranger raptor and a 2019 Prado, both are fantastic on and off road. Raptor with 10 speeds is a bit uncertain of what gear to be in off-road where the Prado lumbers on like it doesn't care. Prado was the choice for a recent trip below in it natural environment.

guy has top model Triton 3 years old modified some Thailand based bumpers underbody protection it goes everywhere rieschek hut river rakia and other river trips and he thrashes it, one dpf clearance and brakes but service is $700 or more each time .surprised a lot of people with its ability and reliability with real tough off road use
Had Isuzu dmax for 4 years general servicing was bot $300 dearer than the HiLux that I've got now which I've had for 2.5 years can't comment on the big service yet as I haven't had one on the HiLux but my big service on the Isuzu was about $1400
landcruiser 18,000$ in denied vehicle faults and servicing in 1 year - yeah na no thanks

Unless you have a really big wallet stay away from the european umm stuff
Did you watch the video? Almost every issue he had was due to aftermarket ‘upgrades’. Once you start adding a whole lot of aftermarket parts, and getting the thing tuned, why would Toyota accept responsibility? Not that he makes any mention of any ‘denied vehicle faults’. Once you start fording rivers, exceeding the max wading depth, etc, you have to own the consequences.

yup watched that and all the previous vids aswell, 7000$ blown turbos because factory airbox lets dust into turbos, the brake problems poocruisers have is same story -
toyota denying warranty claims because a vehicle has been offroad, 1800$ starter motor bills for getting wet afew times and crapping itself doesn't inspire much want for
one i know that - fanboys will be fanboys

This is my opinion.
If you are buying a late model ute and paying $45 plus buy new and get a extended warranty.
And if you can once warranty is up move it on.
Also after driving a new auto for 12 months as a personal ute, then been supplied a manual work ute to save a couple grand i would never own another manual.
Doesn't matter what brand they all seem to have there issues but some more then others
One thing for you dmax boys is make sure you a keeping and eye / changing oil in rh side of front diff
My 2.5 year old Ranger.
Warrant and service:
Thank you for making an appointment with us.
The cost of this service is $1060inc.GST. The price of the WOF is $78
This includes changing air cleaner element, fuel filter and pollen filter as well as all the usual Ford service requirements & engine oil & filter change.
Also, let us know what time you would like to collect your vehicle?
Bloody hell. Nearly 80 Nicker on top of the service.
If it was a decent service, half of the warrant would be done anyway. And it's a dear warrant
Just take my patrol to Oil Changers,10 litres of oil,2 oil filters, fuel filter and air filter.$290 and no appointment needed.See you after the next 10,000ks.15 minute service.
Patrol done 582900 and never touched the engine.
Have a 2017 navara .do.my own serv8cing .save a bundle. If it doesn't work then time to take to shop.all this talk of servicing
Try owning a rotary vehicle. Servcing means a new engine .lol.
Currently on the hunt for a new ute. Been looking at 2017-2019 hiluxs as after reliability. Looked at a dmax but been told 2017 onwards they have turbo issues and a diesel mechanic told me colorados were good but my reading tells me they have major transmission issues which is a shame as found a lovely 2019 one with low kms for a good price

We brought a new Fortuner last year and knowing that prices will rise we prepaid for the first 4 services. 1yr or 15,000km whichever is first. $1460 total, or $365 each.
It's just had it's 1yr service and here's what they did

Might be worth considering new, even if your budget isn't quite there. Looking at used prices at moment many 5yr, 10yr, 15yr old utes are sellign for near their new price.
Some deals currently on Dmax. Up to $12k off. https://www.isuzuutes.co.nz/build-and-buy-overview
I see Toyota is doing 4.9% interest too.
Wonder what the discussion around the watercoolers in the various vehicle importers/distributors has been today?
Diesel utes gonna be up to $6K cheaper on 16 October?

Still laughing at pollen filter on that one post. That is the biggest rip off ever
At certain times of the year, and in certain locations in NZ, Pollen is a thing.
But yeah, despite living where at this time of the year you can see massive yellow clouds of pine pollen floating through the air, I think mine is about 20 years old.
.....but now starting to smell. Maybe I should buy a new one and shout the truck a birthday:D
Anyone have much experience with the newer triton?
I drove one for three days week before last. Rental through a contractor.
It felt way "fatter" than the previous one. Pretty sure it's been supersized like a lot of them these days.
But like the previous model, it just doesn't feel as solid as I'm used to. I said to the one guy, if you imagine a scale where "solid" is the Hilux, and "flimsy" is the previous model Great Wall, the new Mitsi is somewhere in the middle.
The tritons have a great name over here. The thinking man’s Hilux.
Worth a look. Not pretty but seem to go well for guys that aren’t flogging them every day.
