my advice don't do it whatever you buy for that money is going to be old and fucked and spend more time in the shop than on the water
buy a smaller tinny with a good motor way better option
buys a old 80's fiberglass hull with a 80's 2 stroke with a rotten transom "good job bro lol" cant say i told you so hahaha......
everyone wants a big boat but unless you can afford to buy a good big boat your better off with something smaller and buying quality
I'm 3 months in to first boat ownership and it's going well. No dramas. I owned a jetski for the last 7 years, so got my head around trailering and launching etc. I've also spent the last 25 years fishing on other people's boats of all shapes and sizes, so had a very good idea of what I wanted.

This is good one. It reminds me how nervous I was when the first time towing a 4.5m boat for maintenance. Checked trailer triple times and more, drive carefully, look back from mirrors for every two seconds, leave more than enough spaces to others:oh noes: :o I knew I can do, have some trucker experience long time ago, just do `t like any troubles. it happens. Best bet is to check the wheel bearings on a regular basis.
If you don't know how to do it, go to a garage and get them to show you how.
I've seen this heaps of times on the coast. Wheel bearings are knackered, outer bearing seizes, this in turn snaps stub axle off. Axle is now stuffed. call a tow truck, prepare yourself for a bill!!
it is much easier and cheaper to check them..........
Unfortunately, it was my local garage that stuffed it up the day before and signed off it's WOF. They admitted they fucked up, apologised and covered my costs which weren't insignificant. I'm not exactly happy, but content with the outcome.
Talking about boating out of the sea...are you gents naturally born with "sea legs", or some of you actually conquered sea sicks by go out often? Or maybe there is magic pill?
I throw up all the time on boat, on kayak is ok, so for now without sea legs, a Yamaha wave runner jetski is my best option.
Depending on the person, it's one, two or three of those things. My humble observation is that Asian genes do not travel well on the water.Quote:

I believe the wave period can play a big part in it. I use sea legs now and that works pretty well. Not quite as well as leaving the boat in the garage though :)

The first two, I was always trying to do, but you know there were some works for me alone, such as bleeding the fish, anchor stuck on seabed; pump the gas etc, my wife tried to help me, so that I can avoid some sea sick.
And the third, I was totally wrong and thank you for let me know. I usually took two cup of long black in the morning and wait others to wake up and get ready, and one white on the way to the boat.
