    Noting your purpose, attention to recovery points etc is vital.

    Don’t know about where you go, but I’ve ripped off my roof bars so many times it’s not fun any more. Top loading on roof either adds weight (horrible on corners), or wind drag. Back of the cab best

    A custom made rear space liner in canvas or suchlike would be an affordable option too
